Former Gillingham goalkeeper Jason Brown is on the hunt for a new club and would quite happily sign for a Kent side.
The 31 year old Welsh international keeper finds himself without a side midway through the season having left Ipswich Town in the summer after a two year stint with Aberdeen.
Having left Gillingham for Premier League side Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2006, Brown struggled to get games and subsequent loan spells at Leeds United, Leyton Orient and Cardiff City failed to see him land a secure starting spot.
Now without a side after a one month spell with Cambridge United to get fit, Brown is back looking for a club and exclusively told KSN he would be more than happy if that was with a Kent side:
“Being at Cambridge for the month was always the plan after being without a club for a while it gave me the perfect chance to get myself fit and back into the swing of things which I have done and am now ready to really kick on.”
“To be fair I would go anywhere, but if there was a club in Kent that would be great.”
After doing a lot of coaching both locally and scouting for the Welsh international side, Brown admits he would love to get playing again and would like it to be at the highest level possible:
“Of course I would want to be playing at the highest level, but if there was a good club that wanted to go places and was a good project I would have a look.”
To keep himself in peak condition, Brown has been working with another former Gillingham goalkeeper:
“I’m now training with Jim Standard who’s a fantastic coach and really enjoying working with him.”
Some fans would always ask whether a return to Priestfield under Peter Taylor could be on the cards and Brown hasn’t ruled that out:
“In football, never say never. If he needed a keeper, I would be more than happy to go back to my club and work with a top coach.”
