Former Gillingham goalkeeper Jason Brown has told Kent Sports News of his delight at signing for Dartford.
The 32 year old former Blackburn Rovers, Aberdeen and Welsh International keeper has put pen to paper on a deal with Tony Burman’s Conference Premier side after leaving Sutton United at the end of the season.
Having impressed in the Skrill South last season, Brown is now looking forward to the challenge of playing at a higher level and can’t wait to get started playing for Dartford and playing in Kent once again:
“I’m very happy to have finally got it done and dusted and now know where I’m going to be and focus on the job in hand.”
“Being back in Kent played a part in my decision and I’ve been living away from home now for eight years, so it’s good to be back.”
“For me, it’s all about playing and enjoying my football. Dartford was always in the picture along with one or two other clubs who were in different leagues. For me, at this stage it’s all about happiness.”
Leaving Sutton United after such a successful season was a hard choice for Brown, but one that he felt he had to do:
“I loved every second at Sutton working with some really nice people from the kit man to the physio, manager and staff and of course the players. It was a really special time and I’m so grateful to them.”
Having signed for Dartford, Brown will still keep working in football in his spare time and revealed he is working with a Championship club:
“I’m really enjoying coaching and have just finished off my UEFA B outfield and just started my UEFA A outfield. My own goalkeeper clinics are going really well and I’ve just joined Millwall academy.”
“For me that’s where my future lays, but not for a few years.”
