Josh Brookes was once again crowned the ‘King of Brands’ on a glorious day at Brands Hatch with a dominant display in the sixth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
Brookes the 2015 BSB Champion took the double and announced himself as a showdown contender, with his first two victories of the season and his eleventh around Brands Hatch. Glenn Irwin ran him close in both races but had to settle for second with championship leader Leon Haslam talking a brace of third places.
The battle of the Kent riders was won by Dover born Jake Dixon, he finished in fourth place in race one, and followed that up with another strong showing in race two, once again finishing in fourth place. Bradley Ray had a weekend to forget as he struggled home in 13th place in race one and in race two he finished in 16th place, just outside the points positions.
In the British Supersport Championship Ross Twyman had an excellent result in Saturday’s race finishing on the podium in third place, on Sunday he couldn’t convert a front row start as his race ended on lap ten. Meanwhile Ryan Dixon who has had a tough few weeks, brought home two good points finishes to get his season back on track.
Alex Olsen was also having a good weekend over in the Superstock 1000 class, finishing in fifth place in Saturday first race and in the afternoon, he brought his BMW home in a podium position, finishing in third place, then on Sunday afternoon having led for a large proportion of the race he once again finished on the podium in third place.
Rob McNealy also had a good weekend with points finished in all three races with 11th in race one, 12th in race two and 14th place in race three.
