Bromley win London Senior Cup

Bromley won the London Senior Cup for the first time in ten years thanks to two first half goals and despite being down to ten men for over 30 minutes in the second period.Bromley

Bromley got off to the perfect start against their Ryman Premier opponents when Elliott Buchanan found space on the edge of the box and finished coolly low into the corner of the net.

Kingstonian rallied and had a good spell, but The Ravens defence held out well. Bromley looked stronger towards the end of the half with Louie Theophanous going close with a header after good work by Sanchez Ming and Tony Finn down the right.

Mark Goldberg’s men pressed from the front, putting The K’s defence under pressure and cashing in on the wayward passes caused by this. They extended their lead on 38 minutes when Theophanous beat three defenders before cutting the ball back to Aaron Rhule to tap in from close range.

Late on Bromley were dealt a blow when centre back Moses Swaibu was hurt for the second time by a heavy late tackle and had to go off injured at half time.

The second half saw Kingstonian come out fighting, Pattison headed over and early chance before Mike Jones had Bromley’s best chance saved when one on one with Bragg.

Okai had an effort saved by George Howard before The Ravens were reduced to ten men on 58 minutes when Helge Orome was judged to have brought down Okai as he ran clear on to goal.

It was all K’s from then on Waladio hit the bar, Murphy and Taylor had shots saved by Howard and Huckle’s header was cleared off the line via the post.

Kingstonian had one goal disallowed for a heavy challenge on Howard whoch left him requiring lengthy treatment.

In injury time with Bromley pressed deep in their own half Okai finally bundled the ball home after a scramble from a set piece, but it was too late as Referee Degnarain sounded the final whistle before the kick off could be taken.

This was a display of real character and attitude by Mark Goldberg’s side who showed the desire and spirit to hold on til the end and take the trophy back to Hayes Lane.
