Following Tuesday night’s impressive 3-1 win over Ebbsfleet Utd, Bromley are back in National League action at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon when they take on newly promoted Torquay United.
Neil Smith’s side have picked up four points from their opening two games of the new campaign, conceding only one goal and they will be looking to keep the momentum going against Gary Johnson’s Gulls.
Fresh from winning National League South last season Torquay have started life back in non league football’s top flight with a 2-1 home win over Boreham Wood last weekend before losing 3-0 at Solihull Moors on Tuesday night.
There were over 1,700 at Hayes Lane on Tuesday and another good crowd is expected for this game with The Gulls having a large travelling support and London based fans also.
Prior to Torquay’s relegation from the National League the previous meeting at Hayes Lane in September 2017 saw Bromley win 3-1 and The Ravens also won 1-0 in February ‘17.
Striker Michael Cheek scored his first goal for Bromley against his old side in the win over Ebbsfleet, while midfielder Billy Bingham found the net twice with two quality finishes, one showing great control and quickness of thought and the other an unstoppable 30 yard drive
Marc-Anthony Okoye & Korey Henry are both still out injured along with long term absentee Jake Goodman. On-loan Southend midfielder Michael Klass got more minutes in midweek, with Smith using all his options from the bench to keep his side fresh during this busy opening period of fixtures.
Both sides will be keen to continue their positive starts to the season as the league table begins to shape up
