Bromley vs Morecambe – Preview

Bromley play their penultimate home game of their historic debut League Two season on Good Friday afternoon when they entertain relegation threatened Morecambe at Hayes Lane.

Bromley go into the game having lost 5-0 away at promotion challengers Port Vale last Saturday, in an afternoon to forget for The Ravens they also totted up seven bookings in the game, putting in a performance that left manager Andy Woodman bitterly disappointed with his side and their basic errors.

Having had an outside shot at play the play offs at the start of March, Bromley have only won one of their last seven matches and slipped to fourteenth in the table with 56 points from 42 league games, with the very midtable record of winning, drawing and losing 14 matches respectively with a zero goal difference. Although this is still a very respectable first season in the Football League, Woodman will be aiming to end the campaign in a positive fashion.

Morecambe make the journey down from the Lancashire coast sitting bottom of the table with 36 points from 42 games, last weekend The Shrimpers lost 2-0 at home to Carlisle Utd in a relegation six pointer ending a run of two wins prior to that, which had sparked hopes of EFL survival.

Derek Adams’ side will now need to win all of their remaining games to have a chance of finishing outside the last two places, but with several clubs further up the Football League facing an uncertain future over the summer, finishing second from bottom in the table could still be enough to ensure survival should the worst happen to one of the financially stricken teams.

When the sides met at Mazuma Mobile Stadium in December, Bromley won 2-0 with goals from Omar Sowunmi & Michael Cheek in the middle of a great run of results that moved The Ravens to edge of the play off places.

Tickets are at a premium while the building work continues on the East Terrace, but there were still some available at the time of writing.  Kick off is at 3pm.
