Bromley vs Gateshead – Preview

Bromley look to extend their run of ten games unbeaten when they entertain Gateshead at Hayes Lane in the National League on Saturday afternoon, in a match between fourth & fifth.

The Ravens go into the game fresh from a 1-0 home win over Eastleigh on Tuesday night, with Chin Okoli getting the vital goal just before half time. Lewis Leigh and Kido Taylor-Hart made their full debuts for the club in the game against The Spitfires and both impressed.

The depth of Andy Woodman’s squad was show by the fact that without Louis Dennis & Josh Passley, Bromley still looked as dangerous and had a strong bench, with some players still waiting in the wings for a chance.

The midweek victory kept The Ravens in fifth with 22 points from 12 games, just behind Gateshead on goal difference, with an otherwise identical record, and nine points off leaders Chesterfield.

The Heed make the long journey south having won 4-0 away at Oxford City on Tuesday night, their third win in a row and seventh game unbeaten. Marcus Dinanga scoring twice, with Greg Olley & Connor McBride also netting.

This is Gateshead’s second season back in the fifth tier and they could well prove to be one of Bromley’s toughest tests so far this campaign. Mike Williamson’s side playing some excellent football and scoring freely.

When the sides met last season they drew 1-1 at Hayes Lane in October with Louis Dennis scoring for the home side and Ward equalising a few minutes later. In the game at the International Athletics Stadium in April, Bromley won 3-0 with goals from Ryan Stirk, Corey Whitely and Dennis again.
