Bromley vs Crewe Alexandra – Preview
Bromley vs Crewe Alexandra – Preview

Completing their first competitive month as an EFL side, Bromley return to League Two action on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Crewe Alexandra at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens go into the game on the back of their first league defeat, 3-1 away at Bradford City last weekend, having had Ashley Charles sent off after only eight minutes for deliberate handball on the line. The Bantams scored from the resulting penalty and the game was pretty much done from there, captain Byron Webster scoring for Bromley late on. Andy Woodman’s side have six points from their three opening games, sitting seventh in the fledgling league table.

Crewe travel down from Cheshire sitting in 23rd place, with one point form their opening three league games. Last Saturday The Railwaymen picked up their first point with a 0-0 draw at home to Swindon Town. On Tuesday night Alexandra did defeat Liverpool U21s 5-1 in the EFL Trophy at Gresty Road, Roberts, Long 2, Cooney and Thibaut all on target for The Railwaymen. Manager Lee Bell hoping his side can take the momentum on into this game and get some more points on the board.

Charles will be suspended for this match, but Lewis Leigh could come in to replace him in midfield. Leigh played for both clubs last season, having had a loan spell from September to January at Bromley and at Crewe in the second half of the campaign, when he was still a Preston player. Alexandra made the promotion play off final last season, before losing out to Crawley Town at Wembley.

This should prove to be another interesting and entertaining match up in Bromley’s EFL adventure, with both teams looking to end August with a positive result.

There were no more home tickets available to purchase from the club’s website at the time of writing, so it looks like another bumper crowd at Hayes Lane.

Kick off on Saturday is at 3pm.
