Bromley v Accrington Stanley preview

Following on from Tuesday night’s draw at Newport County, Bromley are back in League Two action at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Accrington Stanley.

The Ravens go into the game without a win in five, but they came from behind at Newport in midweek to draw 1-1 at Rodney Parade, courtesy of Michael Cheek’s twentieth goal of the season.

Manager Andy Woodman made a number of changes to the starting line up for the game in South Wales, with Sam Long making his League Two debut in goal and post match the boss felt that his team had created enough chances to win the game. The draw at Newport left Bromley in thirteenth place with 53 points from 40 league games.

With a midtable finish secured for Bromley in their debut League Two campaign, Woodman may well take the opportunity to look at some players with a view to next season, given that five of the current squad are due to return to their parent clubs after loan spells when the season finishes.

Accrington Stanley travel down from Lancashire sitting in twenty first place with 42 points from 40 matches, six points off the relegation places. On Tuesday night Stanley lost 4-1 at home to Fleetwood Town, leaving them still in need of points from their final six games to be sure of maintaining their Football League status next season. John Doolan’s side have only won one of their last six games, but have drawn three.

When the sides met at The Wham Stadium in December, Bromley won 2-1 thanks to goals from Michael Cheek and Idris Odutayo, either side of a Ben Woods strike for the home side. With Bromley looking to rediscover their winning formula and Stanley needing points to guarantee safety, this game looks set to be equally as close.

At the time of writing there were no tickets left for home fans with the capacity reduced to 3,100 wile work continues on the new East Terrace development.
