Following Saturday’s hard fought draw with Notts County, Bromley are back in National League action at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night when they entertain another former Football League team in York City.
The injury hit Ravens were only denied a win over Notts County by an injury time goat at the weekend, but the point kept Andy Woodman’s team in ninth, just three points off the play off spots with 52 points from 35 league matches played.
Top scorer Adam Marriott, who played up front as a lone striker, converted a first half penalty having already had one spot kick saved in the match, the goal moving him on to ten for the season.
Woodman was without the injured Byron Webster, Michael Cheek and Charlie Kendall for the Notts County game, which saw him change the shape of the team.
Defender Deji Elerewe joined on loan from Charlton Athletic to add cover at the back.York City make the trip down from Yorkshire sitting in eighteenth place with 36 points from 35 league games played.
On Saturday The Minstermen lost 2-1 at Dagenham & Redbridge having lead through Shaqai Forde’s first half goal. City have struggled to find consistency in their first campaign back at the level following promotion from National League North last season and are currently four points clear of the relegation zone, interim boss Michael Morton taking over from former manager David Webb last month.
When the two sides played in the reverse fixture back in September, York won 2-1 with a last minute winner from Immanueson Duku and the teams also met at Hayes Lane in April last season for the FA Trophy Semi Final, with Bromley winning 3-1, before going on to win the competition at Wembley Stadium.
Two goals from Michael Cheek and one from James Alabi for The Ravens were enough to secure the victory after Kurt Willoughby had put York in front early on.
With Bromley in need of a win to keep them in touch with the top seven and York needing to move further away from the bottom four this should be an entertaining game with both sides looking for the victory.
