After using their ‘Get out of Jail Free’ card on Saturday Bromley host Workington in a replay at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night in the last sixteen of the FA Trophy thanks to a late equalising goal from Jack Holland.
Former Football League club Workington currently play in the Northern Premier League, sitting just two places outside the play off spots having taken 46 points from 29 games played.
The Reds have seen off Witton Albion 4-0, Chasetown 3-1, Glossop North End 5-0 in a replay and then National League Hartlepool Utd 1-0 before a replay win over Weston last month secured this tie which ended 1-1 on Saturday.
The Reds led Bromley for 30 second half minutes at Borough Park, having adapted better to the heavy pitch and raised their game for the bid occasion.
They will have felt disappointed not to have taken more of their chances in front of their noisy home crowd and now have to complete the 680 mile round trip midweek from Cumbria to the Kent/London border.
Bromley are seventh in the National League with 50 points from 31 matches played and will be relieved to still be in the hat and have the opportunity to try and impose their game on the 3G surface at Hayes Lane.
After the game Neil Smith spoke of his disappointment at his team’s performance for all but the last fifteen minutes and relief that they now have another chance to go beyond the third round of the FA trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
The Ravens were missing the attacking threat of Louis Dennis and Adam Mekki on Saturday, but were helped by the introduction of striker Brandon Hanlan in his second loan spell with the club from Charlton Athletic.
With the draw having taken place on Monday lunchtime both sides will know who is waiting for them in the quarter finals to add a little extra spice to what should be a cracking cup tie under the lights at The Lane with a home tie against either Spennymoor Town or East Thurrock United awaiting the winners.
