Bromley v Woking preview

After a four week lay off due to Covid 19 protocols, Bromley return to action on Tuesday night when they entertain Woking in the FA Trophy fourth round at Hayes Lane.

After missing the three scheduled National League Christmas fixtures The Ravens then saw their next game against Chesterfield also postponed and the Woking game moved back four days, making it a month since they last took the field.

Neil Smith’s side currently sit tenth in the table with 22 points from 14 matches played. The Ravens’ last match was also in the Trophy, a 2-0 win over Hemel Hempstead Town in December, with Harry Forster scoring both goals. Since then Forster has extended his loan spell at Hayes Lane from Championship side Watford until the end of the season, a move which has pleased the player, fans and the management.

After Reeco Hackett-Fairchild returned to Portsmouth following the end of his loan spell, winger Charlie Wakefield signed from Wealdstone as a direct replacement to bolster Smith’s squad and he then further strengthened his options adding striker Courtney Duffus from Yeovil Town.

Woking make the trip over from Surrey sitting thirteenth in the National League with 21 points from 16 games played, they also had their game cancelled last weekend due to Covid 19 measures.

Alan Downson’s side last win came in the Trophy courtesy of a 2-1 win at home to Dover Athletic. Since then The Cards have lost two derby games with Aldershot Town and drew 0-0 with Eastleigh live on BT Sport.

The teams have yet to meet in the league so far this season, but in the last campaign the home sides won their respective games by a single goal.

Bromley winning 1-0 at Hayes Lane in September and Woking victorious 2-1 at Kingfield in the November. This cup tie looks set to be equally as close with a place in the fifth round up for grabs and a possible trip to Wembley on the distant horizon.

Although it’s a strange anomaly that last season’s final is still yet to take place, rather than being played in an empty National Stadium.

With the current Lockdown rules around elite sport seeing games played behind closed doors, supporters can watch a live stream of the match for £9.99, details on how to purchase this are available on the official Bromley FC website.

The broadcasts have been widely praised for their high quality by fans of all clubs viewing the games and have proved to be a vital way for fans to keep in touch with the goings on at their club during these difficult times.
