Bromley v Walsall preview

Bromley are back in League Two action on Thursday evening when they take on league leaders Walsall at Hayes Lane in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

The Ravens go into the game having lost 2-1 at Tranmere Rovers last weekend, Michael Cheek having put Andy Woodman’s side in front, his seventeenth goal of the season, before relegation threatened Rovers came from behind to win.

The loss left Bromley in tenth place with 51 points from 36 matches, but they have only lost twice in their last six and still have an outside chance of a late play off bid with ten regular season games left.

Walsall travel down from the Midlands sitting top of the table with 68 points from 36 games, The Saddlers have had a difficult run of late and are without a win in their last four matches, losing 3-1 at home to Grimsby Town on Saturday after Ellis Harrison had put them in front. Despite this Walsall are still seven points clear of Notts County in fourth place.

Matt Sadler’s squad contain two former Bromley players in midfielder Ryan Stirk and striker Levi Amantchi, the latter only joined Walsall in January from Bromley, scoring once in eight appearances so far for his new club.

Andy Woodman was able to welcome back Kamarl Grant to the starting line up on Saturday, while Idris Odutayo, Ashley Charles & Maldini Kacurri returned to the bench, but The Ravens are still missing Danny Imray, Harry McKirdy, Carl Jenkinson & Marcus Dinanga with injury.

There was also a slight concern over Cheek who went off at Tranmere. Last week, midfielder Lewis Leigh left the club on loan to Halifax Town for the rest of the campaign.

When the teams met at The Bescott Stadium in November, the match ended 2-2, Bromley taking the lead twice through Cheek and Dany Imray, before Liam Gordon and David Okagbue equalised, the final goal coming from a corner in the 94th minute.

This game looks set to be equally as close, with both teams looking to get back to winning ways as the run in to the end of the season begins in earnest.

The game is completely sold out with the capacity limited to 3,100 while the East Terrace redevelopment is in progress, but it is live on Sky Sports Football.   Kick off is at 8pm.
