After last weeks disappointing defeat at Halifax Town, Bromley are back in National league action at Hayes Lane on Saturday when they entertain Tranmere Rovers.
Rovers travel down from The Wirral having had a poor start to the season, Nicky Mellon’s side would have hoped to be challenging for promotion back to the Football League again after losing in the play off final back in May, but they’ve found the going difficult so far. With 13points from twelve games played, Tranmere sit in eighteenth and have only picked up one pint from their last three games.
In the four previous occasions the club have met over the last two seasons Tranmere have won three, but the last time out Bromley grabbed a 2-2 draw at Prenton Park with two late goals.
Neil Smith was disappointed with his team’s effort in the 2-1 loss at Halifax, The Shaymen had ten men for over half the game following a sending off and yet still dominated for long spells. He will be looking for a response from his team, who have been much more effective at home so far this campaign winning four out of six matches on home 3G turf.
The Ravens played Crystal Palace behind closed doors this week losing 2-1 to the Premier League side. The match was designed to help boost Roy Hodgson’s sides confidence and this will have hopefully given Smith’s men a chance to work on things too.
A good crowd is expected again at The Lane for a game that still feels a bit like a cup tie to Bromley fans given the visitors past as a Championship team and League Cup Finalists.
