After recording back to back National League wins for the first time this season, Bromley look to continue their good run on Tuesday night when they entertain old rivals and league leaders Sutton United at Hayes Lane.
Bromley defeated Solihull Moors 1-0 on Saturday thanks to a second half header from Joe Kizzi, which took them up to seventh in the table picking up 44 points from their 28 league games so far, The Ravens only having lost one game in their last eight.
Manager Neil Smith was delighted with his teams performance all over the pitch at the weekend, keeping a clean sheet and scoring from another well practiced set piece routine.
Sutton make the short trip over from Surrey sitting top of the table with an impressive 57 points from 27 matches played, on Saturday they drew 1-1 at home to Stockport County conceding an injury time equaliser after Harry Beautyman had put them in front.
Sutton have only lost once in their last ten matches with Beautyman scoring ten so far this campaign. Matt Gray’s side have already played Bromley twice at Gander Green Lane this season with The Ravens winning the FA Cup match 1-0 in October, before Sutton were the winners last month 3-2 in a dramatic victory with the U’s scoring twice in the last four minutes of the game to come back from 2-1 down and take all three points.
Top scorers Michael Cheek (17) & Courtney Duffus (5) both netted for The Ravens that night and they have started to form a strong strike partnership up front for Neil Smiths’ side over the last couple of months since Duffus signed in January.
Bromley were without the injured Jack Holland and Billy Bingham on Saturday, but Chris Bush returned from suspension at centre back with Frankie Raymond continuing to do a great job at left back and young midfielder Taylor Maloney linking up well with Liam Trotter in the middle of the pitch.
This match looks set to be equally as close as the previous encounters this season with both teams looking to challenge at the top end of the table and also with the added spice of local rivalry, it’s just a shame the fans can’t attend to create the special atmosphere for a derby game under the lights at Hayes Lane.
With the game being played behind closed doors due to Covid 19 Restrictions, supporters can view the excellent live streaming service of the match from the official Bromley FC website for £9.99.
