Bromley v Scunthorpe United preview

Fresh from two consecutive 1-0 wins Bromley are back in National League action again on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Scunthorpe United at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens go into the game having beaten Aldershot Town away last weekend courtesy of a first half goal from Reece Hannam, having also defeated Torquay Utd at home the previous Tuesday with a Louis Dennis goal in the second half.

The two victories have moved Andy Woodman’s side up to eighth in the table with seven points from four league games and they have not conceded a goal since the opening day of the season, with goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook in superb form.

Woodman added another loan signing to his squad this week brining in young keeper Tom Smith from Arsenal as he looks for competition in all positions and to bolster the squad with such a heavy fixtures schedule.

Scunthorpe United travel down from Lincolnshire sitting in 21st place with three points from four matches, Keith Hill’s team having won one and lost the next three.

This is The Iron’s first season in the National League following relegation from the Football League in May and like many teams before them in that position it will take a while to adjust to their new surroundings.

Last Saturday Scunthorpe lost 3-4 at home to Solihull Moors, having lead 3-0 with two goals from Joe Nuttall and one from Colin Daniel after 36 minutes, before conceding twice late on in each half. Their only win so far was on the opening day 2-1 at home to Yeovil Town.

Bromley & Scunthorpe haven’t met before in competitive football, but striker Matt Carmichael played for both clubs with distinction back in the late 1980’s and early 90s.

This looks set to be another entertaining game at The Lane with Bromley looking to continue their good run of form and Scunthorpe hoping to get their season going in the right direction.

Tickets are available from the official club website in advance at £20 for adults, £15 for concessions and £7 for Under 16s, Under 11s free with a paying adult.

Prices increase by £2 on the match day and home fans can now pay on the gate. There is also a printed programme available at the match for £3.00.
