Bromley v Salford City preview

Bromley return to League Two action on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Salford City at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens go into the game having lost 2-1 away at Carlisle Utd last weekend, Harry McKirdy with the equalising goal for Andy Woodman’s team, before they conceded a second just after half time.

The defeat saw Bromley drop to twelfth in the table with 52 points from 38 league games and all but extinguished the possibility of reaching the play offs in the club’s debut EFL season.

Woodman was noticeably unhappy with his team’s performance in the club’s post match interview at Brunton Park and he hinted that he may well make some changes to his starting line up heading into this game.

Midfielder George Penn was recalled from his loan spell at Cray Wanderers in the week and Cameron Congreve will be back from international duty with Wales Under 21s.

Salford City travel down from Greater Manchester sitting in tenth place with 53 points from 37 league matches. Karl Robinson’s side won 1-0 away at Grimsby Town last Saturday with a late goal from Matthew Lund, The Reds first win in six games, which had seen their play off chances also take a hit. They are now six points off seventh place with a game in hand.

When the sides met at The Peninsular Stadium in February the game ended 3-3, with Bromley having lead 3-0 on the hour, thanks to two goals from Cameron Congreve and one from Michael Cheek, before conceding three in the final third of the match, Lewis Warrington, Lund and Cole Stockton on target for City, the equaliser coming in injury time.

This game looks set to be equally as close, with two upper mid-table sides looking to end the campaign on a positive run.

The only previous meeting between the sides at Hayes Lane was a National League fixture in September 2018, Salford City winning 2-0 on their way to promotion that season.

With the capacity of Hayes Lane reduced to 3,100 at the moment due to the East Terrace rebuilding, tickets are at a premium, but there were still a small number available at the time of writing.

Kick off is at 3pm.
