Bromley v Maidstone United preview

Following Tuesday night’s disappointment at York City, Bromley return to National League action on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Maidstone United in a Kent Derby at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens lost 2-1 at York in midweek having lead through Omar Sowunmi’s first half strike, only to concede two goals in the second half, the second in injury time.

The defeat left Any Woodman’s team in tenth place with 13 points from 8 matches and the manager expressed his frustration at his team’s inability to make their chances in front of goal count.

Maidstone sit two places lower than their hosts with 11 points from 8 games. On Tuesday night they drew 1-1 at home to Wealdstone, Sam Corne putting then in front, before conceding an equaliser late on.

This is The Stones’ first season back in the National League following promotion from NL South in May and Hakan Hayrettin’s team have made a very solid start to life back in Non League football’s top flight, winning three from eight and drawing twice.

Woodman’s selection options will be boosted with the availability of Chris Bush after suspension as he looks to find the right formula to achieve a winning consistency in results. Lining up in the squad to face Bromley will be two players who were with The Ravens last season in defender Jack Cawley & cult hero striker James Alabi.

A good crowd is expected at Hayes Lane for this one and it looks set to be a close fought thing, between two sides who have been familiar opponents over the years.

Tickets are available from the official club website in advance at £20 for adults, £15 for concessions and £7 for Under 16s, Under 11s free with a paying adult. Prices increase by £2 on the match day and home fans can now pay on the gate. There is also a printed programme available at the match for £3.00.
