Bromley v Gateshead preview

Bromley are back in National League action again on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Gateshead at Hayes Lane.

Following on from Tuesday night’s impressive 2-0 win at Boreham Wood, The Ravens moved up to fourth in the table, summer signing Adam Marriott scoring both of the goals at Meadow Park, taking his tally up to six already.

Andy Woodman’s side now have 23 points from 12 league games and are only four points off leaders Notts County, winning seven and drawing two of their matches so far.

The manager was very pleased with his team’s performance in midweek and praised the squad’s togetherness and work ethic.

The strength in depth of the squad exemplified by Ethan Coleman coming in for Billy Bingham and the performances of on loan Arsenal keeper Tom Smith since Reice Charles-Cook’s injury.

Gateshead make the long journey down from the North East sitting in seventeenth with 11 points from 12 league matches, Mike Williamson’s side winning two and drawing five of their opening games.

On Tuesday night they lost 3-1 at home to Altrincham, Owen Bailey having given The Heed an early lead before they conceded two in the first half and one after the break.

This is Gateshead’s first season back in Non League Football’s top flight following promotion from NL North last May as champions, with Williamson being named Manager of the Season.

The last time the teams met at Hayes Lane was back in August 2018, when a late goal from Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe won the game for The Ravens, the campaign eventually ending in relegation for The Tynesiders despite winning the return fixture 2-0 in December 2018.

This looks set to be an entertaining game, with Bromley looking to keep in touch with the league leaders and Gateshead to re-establish themselves in the fifth tier.

Tickets are available from the official club website in advance at £20 for adults, £15 for concessions and £7 for Under 16s, Under 11s free with a paying adult. Prices increase by £2 on the match day and home fans can now pay on the gate.

There is also a printed programme available at the match for £3.00.
