Two traditional old rivals of Non League football meet in a pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon when National League Bromley host newly promoted NL South side Dulwich Hamlet at Hayes Lane.
The game will see long time Bromley board member Glynn Beverley remembered, with a cup being presented in his name to the winners. Glynn passed away earlier on this year and having also spent time at Dulwich Hamlet in the 1990s he is remembered fondly by both clubs.
Gate receipts from the game will be split 50/50 to go towards The Hamlet to help keep the club going while they are away from Champion Hill in exile at Tooting & Mitcham due to issues with the current owners of their home.
Dulwich were promoted from The Bostik League Premier Division last May via the play offs and their exciting young squad is now preparing for their first season at National League South level under highly rated manager Gavin Rose.
Bromley are four games into their pre-season campaign as they prepare for their fourth National League season, on Tuesday night Neil Smith’s men overcame Crystal Palace’s U23s 1-0 thanks to a second half own goal.
Smith has said he is still looking to add two or three more players to the current squad before the big kick off on 4th August.
A good crowd is expected for this one between clubs who met regularly in their Isthmian League days and often helped each other out when the other was struggling, Bromley having used Champion Hill as a ‘home’ ground when the stand at Hayes Lane was destroyed by fire in 1992.
Entrance is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions, two children can come in free when accompanied by a full paying adult.
