Bromley v Dartford preview

This evening Bromley host Dartford in the Kent Senior Cup in what is expected to be an intriguing local clash.

At the start of last season, there was only one division difference between the two clubs. By the end of the campaign, there were three levels as Bromley were promoted to League Two while Dartford were relegated to the Isthmian Premier.

Currently, Bromley are in twentieth place in their first ever season as a ‘League Club’. They have gone three league games undefeated, however, all three of those were draws. On Saturday, they visited Fleetwood Town and came home with a point after a nil-nil stalemate.

Meanwhile, Dartford have dropped down to ninth place in the Isthmian Premier having won just one game in their last seven league and cup matches, and no goals scored in their last four. Like Bromley, they also played out a goal-less draw on Saturday when they were held at home by Hendon. Their cause wasn’t helped by a sending off meaning that they played the last forty plus minutes with ten men.

Neither Bromley manager, Andy Woodman, nor Ade Pennock, his Darts counterpart, will be prioritising this tournament. It is likely that they may take the opportunity to give some of their fringe players, or personnel coming back from injury, some playing time and the chance to impress.

However, both managers are competitive and will want to win and with Gillingham, the highest rated Kent club, already out, this could provide a route to claim a trophy at the end of the season.
