Bromley v Chesterfield preview

Following Wednesday night’s dramatic late equaliser at Dagenham & Redbridge, Bromley look to extend their unbeaten start to the National League season to ten games when they entertain Chesterfield at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The Ravens drew 1-1 at Dagenham with a 94th minute goal from Reeco Hackett-Fairchild in front of the BT Sport cameras and although it wasn’t a vintage performance from Neil Smith’s side it showed the resilience, character and ‘never say die’ attitude of his squad.

Having conceded early goals in their last three games Bromley have battled back to secure at least a point, as they did in the 2-2 at home to AFC Fylde last Saturday.

Chesterfield, now in their second National League season, sit third from bottom with 5 points from 9 games, having drawn five matches and lost four.

Manager John Sheridan’s side have still struggled to find their feet so far this campaign and lost 3-2 at home to Halifax Town on Tuesday night, following a 1-1 draw with Dagenham & Redbridge last weekend.

Last season The Ravens and The Spirerites played out two draws, with Chesterfield grabbing late goals in both matches, 1-1 at home in November and 3-3 at Hayes Lane in March.

Jack Holland was back on the bench on Wednesday night as Smith’s squad returns close to full strength, with Korey Henry also back from an early season injury.

With local top flight teams on an international break a big crowd is expected at Hayes Lane for this one to cheer on The Ravens against another famous ex-Football League club.
