Bromley v AFC Fylde preview
Bromley v AFC Fylde preview

After winning their last two matches Bromley are back in National League action on Saturday when they entertain high flying AFC Fylde at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens recorded an impressive 3-0 victory at Havant & Waterlooville last weekend and then followed it up with a 2-1 win over Sutton Utd in front of the BT Sport Cameras on New Year’s Evening, which has taken them eight points clear of the relegation zone with 33 points from 27 matches.

Fylde travel down from the Lancashire coast sitting in fourth place with 50 points from 28 games, they kicked off 2019 with a 0-0 draw at home to Barrow having won three and drawn two of their last five games.

The two sides met on the first day of the season at Mill Farm, with Dave Challinor’s side coming out 2-1 winners, prolific top scorer Danny Rowe netting the winning goal.

The side formerly known as Kirkham & Wesham have been on an upward trajectory over the last decade going from county league football to the National League and winning the FA Vase in their last game under the previous name.

They are now only one division below local fallen giant Blackpool and two below Fleetwood Town who have made a similar rise up through the pyramid since the turn of the century.

Manager Neil Smith was delighted with Bromley’s two most recent performances and has been able to pick an unchanged side with recent signings Luke Coulson, Zavon Hines and Hooper settling in nicely. The Ravens potency from set plays was shown once again against Sutton with JJ Hooper and Jake Goodman’s goals both coming from corners and the back four looks far more solid and stable. The match up with Fylde will be a good test for Smith’s resurgent team.

With work on the new stand on-going and breathing space from the bottom four, 2019 has the potential to be another good year for all involved at Bromley FC and there should be another good crowd at The Lane for this one.
