Charlton will make the short trip to Hayes Lane to face Bromley on Tuesday evening, before flying off to their Austrian training camp on Wednesday.

Bromley v Cambridge United Pre-season Friendly 25/07/2015.

Saturday at Welling was a useful preparation exercise. Bromley will be a notch up and pose a sterner test.

Chris Solly is likely to be fit enough to return, but young West Ham right-back, Alex Pike, is unlikely to be involved.

Russell Slade was happy with the youngster’s performance at Park View Road, but it could be that after the Diego Poyet scenario, the Hammers are seeking assurances that Pike will be a regular starter.

Former Tottenham winger, Emmanuel Sonupe, was probably the least impressive of the four trialists, on Saturday, but will be hoping to get another chance to impress at Bromley.

Lewis Buxton and Andrew Crofts turned in solid performances against the Wings and will feature again, as will wanted duo, Jordan Cousins and Nick Pope.

Johnnie Jackson spoke to the club’s website about the freshness new arrivals Nicky Ajose, Ricky Holmes and Lee Novak have brought to the club:

“There is a real freshness about the place, the new lads have come in and, with the new manager too, he knows this division inside-out.

“He’s been successful at this level, as have the players that we have brought in, and that is what we’ve all been crying out for; experience of the league and people that know how to get the job done.

“They all seem like good lads that want to work for the team and for themselves; I’m looking round the squad now and thinking that we have got good quality at this level.

“There are lads that have been there and done it – myself included. People like Chris Solly were here last time we won the league too, Ricky Holmes has just had a promotion himself and Nicky Ajose and Lee Novak both scored a lot of goals last season.

“We know what the new boys are about, hopefully there will be a few more to come, and with the young lads we have got the makings of a good squad,” said the skipper.

The format at Hayes Lane will be similar to that used at Park View Road, with a different side playing in each half.

Slade will take his squad to Austria for a week long training camp – including two matches – on Wednesday.
