Bromley Football Club have given permission for their manager Andy Woodman to speak to Gillingham about their vacant managerial position.
The National League boss was linked with a move to Gillingham following Steve Evans’ departure and with Steve Lovell having overseen the 3-1 loss at home to Burton Albion on Saturday, Gills chairman Paul Scally is believed to have made Woodman his number one target.
A statement issued by Bromley Football Club on Tuesday afternoon reads:
Having guided Bromley into a strong position in the National League, Woodman has attracted interest from a number of clubs this season with Hartlepool United having been linked to the former Arsenal and Newcastle United coach earlier in the campaign.
The stumbling block of Woodman’s current contract and compensation is believed to be an issue, but Gillingham will be hoping that the appeal of guaranteed League football is a lure.
However, many Bromley fans are of the belief is that both sides could be competing in League Two next season with Gillingham deep in trouble in League One, whilst the Ravens are pushing for promotion into the League for the first time in their history.
