Three months into their debut EFL season and Bromley are looking more like they have found their feet in League Two.
A hard fought 1-0 win away at Doncaster Rovers followed by a point at home to Barrow have seen Andy Woodman’s team move up to eighteenth, six points clear of the bottom two, only losing once in their last seven games.
Michael Cheek has continued his goal scoring form with eight so far this campaign, clearly enjoying the EFL experience and Corey Whitely has chipped in with four from midfield. Keeper Grant Smith has been in great form, especially in the game at Doncaster and the defence is benefitting from the return of Byron Webster to the starting line up.
The FA Cup campaign began with a 4-3 win at Rochdale, having trailed 3-2 going into the final few minutes, which set up another away tie with a National League club in Round Two, this time against their play off final opponents Solihull Moors.
The sides met four times last season including the FA Trophy Semi Final and the promotion final at Wembley, which gives this tie some extra back story. The Ravens last reached the second round of the FA Cup back in 1946.
Bromley only have one home game in November, when they entertain struggling Carlisle Utd at Hayes Lane on 16th. Andy Woodman’s side travel to Cheltenham Town on Saturday and then Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night in the EFL Trophy.
A win in that game would see Bromley progress to the knock out stages of the competition, which ends in a Wembley final. After the game with Carlisle it’s back to back trips to Salford City & Walsall, before December starts with a midweek visit of Gillingham to Hayes Lane.
When we check back in a months time, hopefully Bromley will still be competing in two cup competitions and have continued their move up the table.
