On a memorable night in front of a massive crowd Bromley recorded a stunning 6-1 win over newly relegated Orient at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night to maintain their unbeaten record.
Orient started the game on top with a spell of pressure that Bromley did well to survive. Then after ten minutes a break up field saw The Ravens go in front with their first real attack, when a cross from the right was flicked home by George Porter just inside the far post.
The Ravens pushed on from there with Louis Dennis having a shot saved by Charlie Grainger and Jack Holland heading a corner wide. George Elokobi had a header saved by David Gregory before Bromley went 2-0 up as a free kick from the left was powerfully headed home by Holland from six yards out.
Luke Wandio was denied by Grainger soon after before The Os had a late spell, which The Ravens managed to keep at bay.
The second half again saw Orient start well and put Bromley under pressure, Josh Coulson had a header tipped over by Gregory and the young keeper did brilliantly to deny James Dayton.
Then once again The Ravens struck on the break, Dennis broke into the box and drilled at shot at Grainger which he did well to parry only for Josh Rees to pounce on the rebound and make it 3-0.
Dennis again was the catalyst for the fourth goal when he hit another fierce drive at Grainger and this time Adam Mekki was on hand to convert from close range.
Orient rallied again and finally broke through the solid home defence when Macauley Bonne pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the box and crashed the ball past Gregory to make it 4-1.
Neil Smith’s side held out against another spell of pressure from the visitors before they made it 5-1 with fifteen minutes left, Holland converting from close range after a scramble in the six yard box following a corner.
Orient pressed again when Dayton set up Coulson whose powerful header was saved by Gregory, but they were soon 6-1 down when Brett Williams broke from the halfway line, leaving the Os defence standing and coolly took the ball round Grainger before rolling the ball into an empty net.
To add insult to injury Orient then had a goal disallowed when Elokobi converted a corner only for Referee Allison to rule it out for a foul.
Bromley now entertain another relegated Football League side in Hartlepool Utd on Saturday afternoon at Hayes Lane looking to keep this impressive start going.
