Bromley’s Under 18 side progressed through another round of the FA Youth Cup with an impressive win over Maidenhead Utd on Tuesday night at Hayes Lane, scoring some fine goals in the process.
Maidenhead started the game on the front foot, Christian Johnson having a shot saved by Cemal Osman in the Bromley goal and they had the better of things for the first ten minutes, with Okba Bassaid having a shot defelcted wide.
Bromley settled from there and started to come into things, Noah Joyce had a free kick saved, but a few minutes later he was on target again and this time he put Bromley in front from 30 yards out, curling the ball over the wall and just under the bar for 1-0.
A mix up in the Bromley defence saw Osman make a brave save at the feet of Johnson and he also was on hand to deny Bailey Jefferies after a good move down the right.
The key moment came on 37 minutes when Lateef Adaja turned on the half way line and ran clear of the Maidenhead defence, showing great skill & pace, before firing past William Cornwall from the edge of the area for 2-0, shifting the momentum entirely in Bromley’s favour.
The game was as good a finished right on half time when a Joyce free kick found Sam German who headed home for 3-0 to Bromley at half time.
Any chance of a Maidenhead second half come back was as good as ruled out straight from the kick off when The Ravens went 4-0 up as Shakur Beech ended a quick move upfield with a great finish from the right hand side of the box.
Impressive captain Frankie Hvid went close with a header, before Maidenhead rallied and started to press Bromley for a spell, Jefferies having a shot saved by Osman.
The young Ravens took back control of the match though with long spells of possession, slowing the pace down and keeping the ball. With 18 minutes to go they made it 5-0, when Adaja was brought down for a penalty and Callum Corbin converted the spot kick to complete the scoring.
Late on Magpies keeper Cornwall was hurt when making a brave save from Beech, while at the other end Osman kept his clean sheet saving from Reece Joshua McCarthy’s driven effort.
This was a very strong performance from Bromley who were worthy winners on the night, booking their place in the First Round.
