Bromley continued their table topping start to the season with a comprehensive win over Tonbridge at a soaking wet Hayes Lane in front of a decent crowd.
After an open start The Ravens created the better chances with Jay May and Rob Swaine both heading wide, they eventually took the lead on 21 minutes when Pierre Joseph-Dubois latched on to a loose pass from Chris Piper and hit a fantastic shot with the outside of his foot past Masters from 18yards.
Bromley made it 2-0 on 29 minutes when Steve Smith’s great pass set Bradley Goldberg free to score a fine solo effort.
Late in the half Tonbridge had a coupe of efforts on goal, but Lewis Carey was equal to Piper and Mark Lovell’s shots and the visitors were lucky to keep eleven men on the field when Mikel Suarez committed a second terrible late foul on Swaine.
The second half saw Bromley continue to press Goldberg went close and then they put the game beyond doubt on 54 minutes when Dubois set up Brendan Kiernan to score from close range.
Jay May had a goal ruled out for offside and Dubois hit the post before Elliott Buchanan’s free kick was powerfully headed home by captain Rob Swaine to make it 4-0 on 77 minutes.
Former Bromley full back Nathan Green pulled one back for The Angels with a cross that went in off the far post on 83 minutes, but Bromley still had the last word when Warren McBean and May set up Jordan Clarke who beat Masters at his near post for 5-1 in injury time.
This was a richly deserved win for Mark Goldberg’s impressive looking side who now travel up to Bishops Stortford on Monday.
