Bromley 5-0 Chelmsford City

Bromley secured their place at the top of the league with a stunning five goal destruction of struggling Chelmsford at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night.Bromley v Chelmsford EB

City who parted company with their manager Dean Holdsworth the previous day failed to get a response from their beleaguered players other than a brief spell in the first half and Bromley did the job in some style.

Following a lively open start Bromley took the lead on 10mins when Bradley Goldberg curled a stunning 20 yard goal in off the angle of post and bar.

Following a quiet spell Chelmsford started to have the better of things Robert Edmans fired over and they pushed The Ravens deep into their own half, but Bromley held out and then going into the break they virtually put the game beyond doubt.Bradley Goldberg EB

After Jay May had hit the bar and Pierre Joseph-Dubois had an effort saved by Carl Pentney, May had another effort saved, but this time Goldberg pounced on the rebound and blasted home in off the bar for 2-0.

Then in first half injury time Joe Anderson made it 3-0 with a superb free kick from 25 yards which just bent inside the far post. All of a sudden the game was Bromley’s and Chelmsford looked a beaten side.Joe Anderson EB

The second half began with Brendan Kiernan going close before Dubois was booked for diving despite looking to have been floored in the box.

May & Kiernan went close again before some great work by May set up Goldberg for his hatrick to make it 4-0 on 71 minutes.

With Kiernan off injured and Bromley down to ten men they still made it 5-0 on 83 minutes when May latched on to a long ball and swept the ball past Pentney.Jay May EB

Late on May had another shot cleared off the line and also forced a save from Pentney before the final whistle came to end The Clarets suffering.
