Bromley 4-3 Wrexham

After securing their National League status on Tuesday an injury hit Bromley side recorded another creditable win on Saturday defeating Wrexham in a seven goal thriller at a sunny Hayes Lane.

Lining up 4-5-1 with Ryan Hall at left back Bromley came un some early pressure from the visitors, Izael McLeod missing a glorious early chance when he put Iffy Allen’s cross over the bar from six yards out. The Ravens battled their way into things and went in front on 8minutes when Tobi Sho-Silva cut in from the left and his powerful shot deflected over Shawn Jalal and dropped in at the far post.

Neil Smith’s men had a great spell from there with George Porter forcing a save from Jalal, but their pressure paid off on 20minutes when Wrexham failed to clear a corner and Jordan Higgs hit a 20yarder that again deflected past the unfortunate keeper to make it 2-0. Blair Turgott went close soon after before The Red Dragons had a decent spell if pressure, Jordan White headed wide, Paul Rutherford had a shot from distance tipped over by Ross Flitney and Mark Carrington saw his goal bound shot deflected into the side netting.

Right at the end of the half Shane McLoughlin showed great strength to create a chance for Turgott, but he fired just over from the edge of the box.

Bromley started the second half in perfect fashion when on their first attack Sho-Silva made it 3-0 breaking clear of the visitors defence and beating Jalal from just inside the box on 48mins. Wrexham responded straight away though pulling it back to 3-1 when White flicked a cross home at the near post.

Just before the hour The Red Dragons made it 3-2 when impressive sub Tumba Massanka hit a powerful effort past Flitney from 20yards out. Massanka crossed for Rutherford who was denied by Flitney soon after, but Bromley settled again and had another good spell from there. Turgott had a shot saved, Sho-Silva header over from a corner and The Ravens were denied what looked a clear penalty when Porter was brought down by Martin Reilly.

Bromley finally made their pressure count on 83minutes when Turgott capped fine display with a goal, showing great feet to create space in the box before shooting past Jalal from a tight angle with the aid of another deflection.

The Red Dragons finished the game the stronger though, Rutherford crossed for Massanka to make it 4-3 from close range with four minutes to go and then he also had a shot blocked for a corner soon after. Brad Goldberg fired just wide for The Ravens late on while Athony Barry had a free kick saved by Flitney but Bromley held out and secured a win that takes them up to eleventh in the table.
