With a mixture of first team and Under 23 players Bromley progressed through to the second round of the London Senior Cup with an entertaining win over Isthmian League Division One North Redbridge at a rainy Hayes Lane on Tuesday night thanks to four first half goals.
Bromley started the game on the front foot looking to attack down the wings and they went in front on 14 minutes when Bim Pepple had a shot saved by Seb Barford, but Noah Joyce pounced to convert the rebound from ten yards out.
The Ravens pressed again from there, with Todd MIller breaking down the right. The former Brighton winger set up Pepple to side foot home from six yards out on 17minutes and they repeated the same process again five minutes later when Pepple converted another great pass across the box from Miller.
Pepple was denied quick fire hattrick when Henry Day made a great sliding block to deny the Luton loanee in the six yard box. Redbridge came back into things for a while and they pulled goal back on 38 minutes when Peter Mokenkwe crossed from the left for Warren Kayembe who slid in to turn the ball home at the far post.
Just before half time Bromley extended their lead when a superb James Vennings free kick from 20 yards out curled over the wall and dropped into the net just under the bar to make it 4-1 at the break.
The second half saw Redbridge start well, Remi Nelson headed over at a corner, before they pulled a goal back just before the hour when Rio Mudham-Hedley drilled in a low effort that beat Teddy Sharman-Lowe at his near post to make it 4-2.
Mokenkwe set up Kayembe soon after who fired wide, while at the other end Nathan Paul-Lavaly had shot saved by Barford. As Bromley began to come back into things, Barford was booked for bringing down Ryan Jones just outside the area as he broke clear and from the resulting free kick Vennings hit the outside of the post.
Late on with the game wide open, Callum Corbin had an effort saved by Barford, before Kayembe was denied by Sharman-Lowe. Finley Roberts was then also denied by Barford and from the corner Cole Kpekawa headed wide. The final chance fell to the visitors when Soumen Nandi played in Kayembe, but his powerful shot was tipped over by Chelse loanee custodian Sharman-Lowe.
Bromley progress to the second round despite a spirited dipspay from Redbridge and now Andy Woodman’s men focus on the FA Cup tie on Saturday evening when they entertain Blackpool at Hayes Lane.
