Bromley defeated Yeovil at Hayes Lane for the first time since 1987 with a comprehensive victory over The Glovers thanks to a double from Louis Dennis and one each from Besart Topalloj & Corey Whtely.
The Ravens went into the game lining up 4-4-1-1 with Harry Forster coming in for Jude Arthurs and James Vennings for Omar Sowunmi.
High profile new signing Mitchel Bergkamp wasn’t fit enough to be included in the squad.
Andy Woodman’s side started the game on the front foot, but there was a lengthy delay when Vennings & Josh Staunton collided and the Bromley midfielder sustained a head injury.
Once play got going again it was a bandaged Vennings who set up Louis Dennis and his deflected shot from the edge of the area looped up and wrong footed Yeovil keeper Grant Smith dropping into the net for 1-0.
Max Hunt then received a yellow card when he body checked Forster as the winger tried to go past him. Ethan Coleman went close soon after as Bromley continued to dominate play and then Dennis crossed for Besart Topalloj who headed over.
With The Glovers finally settling and starting to cope with the blustery conditions they created some chances, Andrew Oluwabori shot wide from distance and Reice Charles-Cook then made a great flying save to deny Jordan Maguire-Drew’s header.
Bromley then went two up when Corey Whitely set up Dennis whose shot deflected wide for a corner and when the set piece came out to Topalloj he coolly slotted the ball into the corner of the net from just inside the area for 2-0.
Yeovil rallied from there, Maguire-Drew was denied by Charles-Cook low down at his near post and then Oluwabori missed a great chance when well placed, shooting wide. Dennis was denied a second goal by Smith as play opened up and a speculative effort from Alex Fisher was comfortably saved by Charles-Cook.
After a late spell from Yeovil, Michael Cheek broke down the right and chipped the ball over the advancing Smith, but Max Hunt got back to clear the ball off the line and keep the half time score at 2-0.
The second half saw Bromley start on top again with Dennis firing wide. Yeovil striker Fisher was booked for an awful late challenge on Kellen Fisher, before Matt Worthington had a headed goal ruled out for offside.
Going into the hour The Ravens pressed again, Fisher had an effort tipped over by Smith and Coleman was also denied by The Glovers keeper.
The key third goal came on 62 minutes when Forster and Dennis exchanged passed opening up the Yeovil defence and eventually Forster crossed for Dennis to side foot home for 3-0.
Yeovil didn’t give up though and they pulled one back three minutes later when Hunt broke clear and set up Oluwabori who converted from close range for 3-1.
Vennings crossed for Byron Webster who volleyed over at one end, before Jamie Reckord headed a deep cross into the side netting at the far post for the visitors.
With play wide open and end to end, Charles-Cook’s long ball found Whitely whose shot was saved by Smith, before Jordan Young then had a shot saved by the Bromley keeper.
Fisher was very lucky not to receive a second yellow card when he caught Callum Reynolds with a chest high challenge, Referee Mr Cartmell opting for a strong warning.
Bromley eventually killed the game off on 86 minutes when a spell of pressure, which saw the ball hit the post and other shots blocked finally paid off when Whitely converted for 4-1.
The visitors had one final spell of possession, but The Ravens saw the game out and picked up a well earned three points.
Bromley are now eighth in the table, just one point off the play offs as they prepare for the visit of Aldershot Town next weekend.
