Bromley made it two wins out of two at the start of their league campaign with an impressive win over Steve King’s big spending Whitehawk side at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night.
The game got off to a cagey start with both sides having good spells, The Hawks went closest first when John-Paul Kissock had a header saved by Seb Brown, but The Ravens also posed a threat thanks to the attacking promise of Moses Ademola and Harry Grant.
Sam Higgins and Ademola both went close before Bromley broke the deadlock on 25 minutes when Ademola played in Pierre Joseph-Dubois who coolly slotted his chance away past Lance Cronin.
The lead only lasted two minutes though when Jake Robinson equalised with a superb curling effort from 30 yards giving Brown no chance.
Bromley battled back though and re-took the lead on 38 minutes when Ademola set off on a powerful run from 40 yards put and after beating several defenders his shot was deflected past Cronin for 2-1.
Late in the half Whitehawk had two good chances but Robinson was denied by Brown and somehow Matthew Barnes-Homer headed wide when well placed.
The second half started with the visitors on top, but once again The Ravens came back into things with Ali Fuseini firing over and Sam Higgins forcing a save from Cronin.
Barnes-Homer missed another fantastic opportunity to equalise when heading wide form close range and it was to prove costly for the Sussex side.
Rob Swaine had a goal ruled out before he finally got on the score sheet on 71 minutes when he flicked Ugo Udoji’s superb free kick over a packs of players in the six yard box and off that far post to make it 3-1.
With Whitehawk now looking a beaten side Fuseini made it 4-1 on 76 minutes with a fantastic driven effort from 25 yards that flew into the roof of the net.
Mark Goldberg’s men richly deserved their win against a very strong side and look set for a very positive start to the new season playing some of the best football ever seen at Hayes Lane.
