Bromley picked up their third consecutive win and extended their unbeaten run to six games with an impressive win over Maidenhead Utd at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon after weathering an early storm.
The Ravens went into the game unchanged from their win at Altrinhcam and lined up in the usual 5-3-2 formation in front of a big crowd on a scorching hot day.
Maidenhead started the game looking the more positive with Jayden Micthell-Lawson having a shot deflected wide and then Cassey Pettit then had a header cleared off the line from the resulting corner.
Charlee Adams had a powerful drive tipped away by Grant Smith, before Bromley finally settled down following a drinks break. On their first real attack The Ravens took the lead when a long ball from Besart Topalloj was knocked down by Josh Passley into the path of Michael Cheek who made no mistake from six yards out to make it 1-0.
The Magpies went close again soon after when Adams’ corner was headed over by Rey Clerima, but from there the pace slowed and Bromley started to control things and they extended their lead on 39 minutes.
Passley played a great ball to Louis Dennis who then found Cheek who drove the ball home from the edge of the area for 2-0.
Andy Woodman’s side then pushed for more goals with Dennis having a shot saved by Craig Ross when one on one, before they made it three deep into first half injury time.
A half cleared corner came out to Byron Webster who hooked the ball back towards goal and Sam Woods unleashed an unstoppable volley to make it 3-0 at the break.
Any hopes of a second half comeback from Alan Devonshire’s side were as good as extinguished on 48 minutes when Dennis picked up the ball 20yards from goal and smashed it past Ross for 4-0.
Maidenhead did rally from there, Harry Parsons fired over before they made it 4-1 on 53minutes when Parsons found Chanka Zimba in the box and he coolly slotted the ball home with the home defence looking flat footed. Bromley looked to get back control from there and kept possession for long spells to halt any Magpies momentum.
Midway through the half Dennis & Ben Krauhus combined to set up Jude Arthurs, but the sub saw his shot deflected over for a corner. Arthurs was involved in two further chances for Bromley, sending in a corner for Callum Reynolds who headed over and then having a shot saved by the feet of Ross at the near post late on.
The win takes Bromley up to ninth in the table ahead of their next home game against Oldham Athletic next Saturday.
