Bromley began the defence of the London Senior Cup with a comfortable win over a spirited London Bari side from the Essex Senior League at a chilly Hayes Lane on Tuesday night.
The Ravens began the game pressing their opponents back with Bradley Goldberg and Jay May going close before the deadlock was broken on 16 minutes.
May sent a well placed pass to Pierre Joseph-Dubois who chipped the advancing Bari keeper Ricardo Braganza for 1-0. Goldberg had two efforts well saved by Braganza , Dubois headed over and May was off target a total of four times in close succession as Bari were penned back in their own half.
The second goal came on 42 minutes when Goldberg played in Dubois who finished powerfully from twelve yards. Ben Swallow fired over just before half time to give Braganza and his defence a well earned break.
The second half began with Bromley pushing again Tom O’Connor was denied by another fine Braganza save before Dubois had the ball in the net only for Referee Mr Ajibola to pull play back and award a penalty for handball.
Goldberg despatched the spot kick to make it 3-0 on 54 minutes. Swallow missed a glorious opportunity from close range soon after and Dubois shot wide before Mark Goldberg rang the changes.
Elliott Buchanan shot a free kick just wide before Bari went close through Maxwell Amoako whose long range effort just went over the bar. Buchanan and debutant Josh Oyinsan both had efforts saved by Braganza before the final goal came on 90 minutes when Swallow crossed for Oyinsan to score the fourth from close range.
Buchanan hit the bar from a free kick in injury time before the final whistle came with the home fans warmly applauding Braganza for his fine keeping display.
Bromley now travel to either Cray Wanderers or AFC Wimbledon in the next round.
