On a chilly Saturday afternoon at Hayes Lane, Bromley and Wealdstone played out a hard fought six goal draw in the National League, which saw the visitors take the lead three times only to be pinned back each time by the resilient Ravens.
With Dennis, Hannam & Bingham all missing and Whitely suspended Bromley still lined up in the usual 3-5-2 formation, but took a while to get going.
The Stones created the first chance of the match when Tarryn Allarakhia set up Olufela Olomola who side footed his chance just wide.
During the first fifteen minutes play was often broken up with delays for injuries and it was only heading towards the midway point that Andy Woodman’s side got going, but they still gave the ball away in midfield far too freely.
Both teams seemed to struggle in controlling the ball on the icy 3G surface, which has a large frost patch on it down in one corner by the Glyn Beverly Stand.
As the half went on Bromley got going and Harry Forster set up Adam Marriott whose shot was well saved by Wealdstone keeper Samuel Howes at his near post.
With the game opening up, Allarakhia went close for The Stones after some good build up play and Marriott was again denied by Howes.
The only goal of the half came with three minutes left when the impressive Allarakhia again crossed form the left to set up Olomola, but this time he coolly slid the ball into the corner of the net past a static home defence to put the visitors 1-0 up at the break.
The second half saw Bromley start more positively and they drew level on 50 minutes when a Charles Clayden corner found Omar Sowunmi who turned and crashed the ball home in off the crossbar to make it 1-1.
Clayden was then denied by Howes at his near post soon after, before Wealdstone came back into things. Olomola and Allarakhia both went close before The Stones went back in front on 58 minutes when Allarakhia capped a man of the match performance with a superb goal, crashing the ball home from just outside the box after a strong run through midfield.
Wealdstone’s lead would only last four minutes though, as Bromley equalised again when a great cross from Ethan Coleman from the right was headed home by Jude Arthurs in the area for 2-2.
The visitors then had another strong spell of pressure, but their passionate appeals for hand ball in the box were waved away by Referee Johnson.
The Wealdstone pressure paid off again on 80 minutes when Giovanni McGregor played in Alex Dyer who curled in a fantastic finish from 20 yards out into the far corner of the net for 2-3.
After going behind for the third time, The Ravens sparked into life again. Sowunmi had a long range drive well saved by Howes after some good build up play and on the next attack they drew level for a third time when the referee played an excellent advantage when he let Bromley play on after a foul on Clayden and he got up to play in Arthurs inside the box who turned and shot home sharply for 3-3.
As the game ticked into injury time Wealdstone could have won it, Lewis Kinsella had a shot saved by Tom Smith at his near post, Nathan Ferguson fired over from close range after a quick break up field and McGregor shot over from 25 yards, but in the end Bromley held out and the teams had to settle for a point each.
Bromley are now eleventh in the National League as they prepare to start the defence of the FA Trophy next Saturday away at Bath City, quickly followed by a league trip to Wrexham the following Tuesday.
