Bromley 3-3 Fulham U21s

Bromley played their first home pre-season game on Saturday afternoon, sharing six goals with a young Fulham side at a blustery and sometimes very wet Hayes Lane.

The Ravens started the game lining up 5-3-2 with new loan signing Teddy Sharman-Lowe in goal and recent arrival Josh Passley at wing back.

Andy Woodman’s side made a positive start to the game and went in front on 11 minutes when Passley crossed from the right and Louis Dennis hit a sweet volley home from ten yards out to make it 1-0.

The lead only lasted two minutes though when the impressive Fulham No9 Oliver Sanderson finished off a one touch passing move with a turn and shot from the edge of the area low into the corner of the net to equalise.

Sanderson forced a save from Sharman-Lowe soon after and was then also denied by the keeper when one on one. Dennis looked really lively up front for Bromley and after going close with a shot from range he then had a shot well saved by Alfie McNally.

With the rain coming down The Ravens took the lead just before the half hour, when James Venning picked the ball up in midfield and hit an unstoppable dipping drive past McNally into the net for 2-1.

After going in front they had a good Bromley spell, but it stayed 2-1 until half time.

The Ravens started the second half on top, with Jude Arthurs shooting just over and then from an Arthurs corner Callum Reynolds headed over the bar in a crowded six yard box.

Michael Cheek was next to go close when the Fulham keeper made a good one handed saved to deny the top scorer just inside the area.

Fulham drew level on 64 minutes though, when a free kick from the right came out to Terrell Works who shot low into the corner of the net to make it 2-2.

Bromley then made ten changes to the team and came under pressure from The Cottagers, they cleared the ball after a frantic goal mouth scramble, but then fell behind on 79 minutes when a ball down the right found Callum McFarlane who slipped the ball under Grant Smith to make it 3-2 to the Premier League youngsters.

Bromley came back immediately from there, when Rhys Wyborn crossed from the left for George Alexander to smash the ball into the roof of the net from close range to make it 3-3.

Terry Ablade had a shot saved by Smith, before The Ravens finished the stronger, but they couldn’t find a winner and the entertaining game ended in a draw.

Bromley now face Maidstone Utd at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night as they continue to work towards the National League kick off on 5th August.
