Bromley 3-2 King’s Lynn Town

Despite going behind twice, Bromley picked up another three points and extended their unbeaten run to eleven National League games with a hard fought 3-2 win over Kings Lynn Town at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon thanks to two goals from Michael Cheek and one from James Alabi.

The Ravens started the game brightly, but they fell behind on 5 minutes when on their first attack the visitors took the lead.

Jayden Davis running in down the left before cutting in along the bye line before clipping the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle leaving the home defence stunned.

From there Bromley just couldn’t get going and kept giving the ball away cheaply, Gold Omotayo headed a Michael Cluan free kick over and Clunan then had a powerful drive saved by Mark Cousins.

The game became scrappy and disjointed for a spell before Bromley finally got going with Louis Dennis firing over from just outside the box as they pressed and he also had a good shout for a penalty soon after.

The pressure finally paid off with three minutes to go in the half when Harry Forster beat his man down the left and when the ball eventually made it’s way across to Luke Coulson on the other wing, he sent in the perfect ball for Cheek to head home at the near post for his eleventh league goal of the season to make it 1-1 at the break.

The second half saw Kings Lynn re-take the lead within five minutes of the re-start when Ross Barrows hit an unstoppable dipping effort from 20 yards out giving Cousins no chance as it dropped in just under the bar.

Barrows then had to go off with s shoulder injury after colliding with recently arrived sub Alabi and it was the introduction of the striker that sparked Bromley back into life.

A foul on the ever impressive Forster saw a free kick into the box which was fired towards goal by Liam Trotter and deflected out to Alabi who slid the ball home from ten yards out to make it 2-2.

The Ravens then had a great spell of pressure with Forster, Coulson and Cheek all going close before they took the lead for the first time in the match on 70 minutes when Chris Bush hit a powerful shot that was parried by Paul Jones out to Cheek who made no mistake in making it 3-2 from close range.

A strong shout for a penalty after a foul on Alabi was waived away by Referee Mr Middleton and he was also reluctant to punish some very heavy challenges on Forster throughout the game.

For the final ten minutes Andy Woodman changed the shape of the side moving to a back four and invited Kings Lynn on as Bromley sat deep. The visitors took the initiative with a series of corners, Arthur Lontton firing over from range and Munshae Sunbdire having a shot saved by Cousins, but The Ravens held out to secure the three points and maintain their fourth spot in the table.

Bromley now take on Yeovil Town at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night looking to beat The Glovers at home for the first time since 1987 and put pressure on the teams above them.
