Bromley 3-2 Kidderminster Harriers
Bromley 3-2 Kidderminster Harriers

Despite a nerve wracking finish Bromley made it five wins in a row with a battling display against a spirited Kidderminster side who will be cursing their luck not to have taken something from a very entertaining game.

Bromley v Cambridge United Pre-season Friendly 25/07/2015.

The game started in open fashion with wayward efforts at either end, before the visitors had a strong spell of pressure, Tahvon Campbell going closest with a shot deflected wide.

Bromley settled as the half went on, but were frustrated by Harriers well drilled offside trap. Then on a quick break up field Harriers made it 1-0 on 20 minutes as Jordan Jones converted low cross from the left from close range past a static Bromley defence.

Gurjit Singh nearly made it two with a fierce cross shot before The Ravens got going again. Ali Fuseini played a quick free kick to Moses Emmanuel who had a low drive well saved by Alex Palmer.

Paul Rodgers and Emmanuel did well to set up Joe Anderson, but he wasn’t able to keep the ball down. Fuseini went close and Emmanuel had a header saved before the equaliser came on 37 minutes.

Anthony Cook was fouled on the edge of the box and Louis Dennis clipped a superb free kick over the wall and under the bar to make it 1-1.

Max Porter, Cook and Dennis all went close going into the break while at the other end Reece Styche saw his low effort go inches wide.

Bromley came out meaning business in the second half and were in front on 48 minutes when Ugo Udoji broke down the right and pulled the ball back to Emmanuel who placed a powerful shot past Palmer into the roof of the net for 2-1, the striker’s tenth goal of the season.

With The Ravens on top they were gifted a penalty on 57 minutes when Cook was pushed from behind chasing a loose ball away from goal.

The tricky winger picked himself up and despatched the spot kick with such power it broke the station behind the goal.

Clearly rattled by what they saw as a soft penalty, Harriers rallied and made it 3-2 on 65 minutes as Campbell raced up the left and crossed for Jones who scored a spectacular long range effort past Chris Kettings.

Kidderminster pressured the home side for a spell, but Bromley always looked dangerous on the break with Dennis curling an effort just wide and Cook forcing a save from Palmer with a swerving effort from out wide.

Late in the half Harriers pressed again, Andre Wright headed wide and also went close again with a low drive and Kettings handled well after a series of corners.

In injury time Cook broke up field and played in Emmanuel, but his powerful effort was deflected wide by a brave defensive block and The Ravens saw time out at the corner flag.

Mark Goldberg’s men are now ninth in the table and face Chester at home on Saturday on a remarkable run of form, but with an ever increasing injury list, which now also looks to include Paul Rodgers.
