Bromley 3-1 Wrexham

Bromley recorded a memorable victory in their first ever National League game coming back from one down to defeat their former Football League visitors with three great strikes.

Broml v Wrex

For the first twenty minutes of this game The Ravens were chasing shadows as Wrexham moved the ball round and put the home side under pressure, with the home side second to everything.

Wesley York went close twice before the inevitable opening goal came on 21 minutes when a low cross from Sean Newton was flicked home by York with the home defence static on the six yard box.

Rather than crushing Bromley, going behind seemed to inspire them and within two minutes they were level.

A free kick into the box lead to a scramble and Rob Swaine managed to divert the ball into Sean Francis’ path who smashed the ball into the roof of the net from ten yards.

With their tails up The Ravens started to play and look like they believed in their abilities. Anthony Cook surged forward down the left and set up Alex Wall who coolly slotted the ball  past Cameron Buford in to the corner of the net for 2-1.

The game settled for a while, with neither side creating chances, but just before the break Bromley made it three when Cook again orchestrated the move bringing the ball through midfield and then playing in Moses Emmanuel who fired home low into the corner to send the home fans delirious.

The second half saw both sides create half chances Brad Goldberg had two efforts blocked while went close. The best chance of the half fell to Wrexham when Connor Jennings hit a fierce effort that Alan Julian palmed over the bar.

Newton had a free kick saved, Dominic Vose fired wide as the visitors battled, Jennings saw a goal bound effort deflected over by Lee Minshull and Rob Swaine made a great saving tackle from Javan Vidal.

As well holding out, Ali Fuseini fired over for The Ravens and Joe Anderson shot wide, but there was no more scoring and the three points stayed at Hayes Lane.

The first twenty minutes aside this was a superb performance by Mark Goldberg’s team who took to life at the next level of competition well and made Bromley FC history.
