Bromley progressed through to the semi final of the Kent Senior Cup thanks to a stylish second half hatrick from JJ Hooper, which saw them past Jason Euell’s young talented Charlton side.
The game started with both teams looking to get the ball forward, Adam Mekki crossed for Aiden Enver who mis-timed his header from close range. Charlton started to get the ball down and play from there with their quick passing style, Recco Hackett-Fairchild had two shots saved by Bromley keeper David Gregory, before Taylor Maloney crossed for Alfie Doughty who just filed to connect with the ball.
Jo Cummings headed over from a corner and Doughty blasted over the bar after good work by Thomas Scott down the left. Late in the half Bromley finally created some chances with Reece Meekums firing a shot wide, then Frankie Sutherland had a free kick tipped over by Ashley Maynard-Bewer. From the resulting corner Jake Goodman headed a good chance wide as the teams went in level.
The second half saw Charlton start brightly and they were 1-0 up on 46minutes when a quick move down the right saw Brendan Sarpong-Wiredo coolly place the ball past Gregory just inside the far post. Bromley rallied from there, Frankie Raymond had an effort saved and Omar Bugeil shot wide from the edge of the box.
There was a brief scuffle following a heavy challenge from Enver on Dan Bowry, that saw The Ravens midfielder booked. Meekums had a shot deflected over before The Ravens pressure finally paid off when Kyle Da Silva set up JJ Hooper who slipped the ball under Maynard-Brewer to equalise. Hooper then had a powerful drive parried by The Addicks keeper, but he then fouled Bugeil as he scrambled for the rebound and Referee Fissenden awarded a penalty.
Hooper placed the ball low into the corner from the spot and despite Maynard-Brewer getting a hand to the ball it nestled in the corner of the net. With The young Addicks reeling Bromley killed the game off two minutes later when Hooper latched on to a long ball over the top of the defence and the Grimsby loanee smashed the ball home to make it 3-1 and complete his treble.
Late on young Ravens defender Riphi Kalala made a superb brave block to stop Wilberforce Orcan pulling one back from close range for The Addicks and keep the score at 3-1 to Bromley.
The result is Bromley’s sixth win in the last seven games and sees them travel to Dover Athletic on Saturday full of confidence.
