Bromley 3-0 York City
Bromley 3-0 York City

Bromley took their unbeaten run to six games with a hard fought win over a struggling York side who slipped further into trouble, now without a win in close to three months.     bromley

Bromley got off to the perfect start when they took the lead after only 5minutes, a Blair Turgott free kick from the left was flicked home by Jack Holland at the near post catching the City defence flat footed.

York rallied from there and created enough chances to go in front, but a combination of good goalkeeping from Alan Julian and a lack of composure in front of goal cost them. Charlie Cooper had an effort well saved by Julian, Jake Charles fired wide and Cooper saw another effort come back off the inside of the post before it was cleared to safety.

Then as The Minstermen were on top The Ravens struck when a quick move up field saw Dave Martin play a perfect through ball to George Porter who slipped his shot under the advancing Kyle Letheren for 2-0.

Turgott went close soon after and Lee Minshull missed a good chance from a header, before York rallied again, but they were unable to break down the resolute home defence. Late in the half martin and Tobi Sho-Silva forced a fine double save from Letheren and Sho-Silva again was denied by the visitors’ keeper when he denied him one on one.

The second half saw Bromley start well, Sho-Silva had an effort scrambled away and Holland fired wide, before City had another decent spell of pressure.

Danny Holmes volleyed wide, Charles was also off target and Julian made a good stop from Sean Newton. Holland nearly put Bromley three up from a corner, but Letheren tipped his header over in spectacular fashion.

After a quiet spell The Ravens sealed the win on 78minutes when sub Adam Cunnington headed home a corner completely unmarked on the six yard box, with the York defence in disarray again. Minshull headed over a free kick soon after, before Julian made agreat save at the other end from Scott Fenwick.

The last chance of the game saw Letheren again deny Turgott, but Bromley still ran out comfortable winners against a side with no luck going forward and big problems at the back.

Neil Smith’s side stay in fourteenth ahead of their trip to Woking on Tuesday night and then they are at home to Maidstone Utd next Saturday in a Kent Derby.
