Bromley secured their first title since 1961 and were promoted to the Conference Premier with victory on Saturday.
Most hardened Bromley fans were expecting a nervy tense afternoon at Hayes Lane as their side battled to secure the points that would guarantee promotion to Conference Premier, but in reality it proved to be a surprisingly comfortable outing as The Ravens put on a fine display of attacking football which won them the league title with a game to spare.
Bromley started brightly on a bumpy pitch in blustery conditions, there were a few early nerves on display with some misplaced passes, but they went close when Moses Ademola set up Anthony Cook who fired over.
Weston then settled and Bradley Ash forced a save from Alan Julian as they looked to spoil the party. After a scrappy spell, Bromley began to create chances again with Joe Anderson crossing for Jamie Slabber who headed against the bar before Reece Prestedge forced a save from Luke Purnell from the rebound.
Joseph McClennan went close for Weston soon after before The Ravens finally got the break through on 27 minutes when a scramble in the box saw the ball fall to Prestedge who coolly slotted it home from ten yards out.
Once the chaos calmed down Bromley continued to press with Ali Fuseini firing over and Brad Goldberg having an effort saved by Purnell.
With the game still in the balance Bromley increased their lead on 37 minutes when Prestedge set up Ademola who hit a superb effort from a tight angle that found the far corner of the net.
The home fans could now believe and start to enjoy the afternoon as Cook, Slabber and Ademola all went close before the break.
The second half saw Bromley start on the attack, but it was the visitors who had the best chances when Dayle Grubb was denied by Julian and then the home keeper made an even better stop from McClennan.
With the nerves beginning to jangle among the Bromley faithful they were soon settled again as Ademola and Goldberg combined to set up Slabber who smashed the ball home for 3-0 on 59 minutes.
Soon after Slabber had another goal bound shot cleared off the line by Pierce Mitchell before a quiet spell in the match until late on when Bromley had three more chances.
Pierre Joseph-Dubois had a good claim for a penalty turned down as he was floored when breaking into the box, then Goldberg and Dubois went close before the final whistle signalled a pitch invasion and celebration of Bromley’s first league title since 1961.
Mark Goldberg’s men now travel to Gosport Borough for their final league game next Saturday with the pressure off and the somewhat daunting yet exciting prospect of Conference Premier football next season.
