Bromley 3-0 North Ferriby United

Bromley finally put an end to their poor recent run for form with a convincing win over relegation threatened North Ferriby who were forced to play with ten men for over 70 minutes after an early red card.

Bromley started the game on the front foot with Brad Goldberg having a penalty appeal waved away and then putting a fierce cross shot across the six yard box which Rory Watson saved and then also denied Tobi Sho-Silva from the rebound.

The scales were tipped further in the favour of The Ravens on 18 minutes when Taron Hare was sent off for a heavy challenge on Alan Dunne who required lengthy treatment.

Bromley continued to push with Jordan Higgs and Goldberg both firing off target, before Ferriby had a rare chance when Reece Thompson had a shot saved by Ross Flitney.

Then after a good spell of possession The Ravens forced a corner which came at the perfect height for Goldberg to head home from six yards out on 33 minutes.

Goldberg went close again soon after before Higgs Crossed for Sho-Silva whose header was saved by Watson and Goldberg’s header from the rebound was cleared off the line.

Just before the break the visitors’ manager Steve Housham was sent to the stands for protesting at the Referee’s decision to book Thompson for a tackle on the halfway line.

The second half saw Bromley start well again, Goldberg went close and then had another shot saved by Watson. Joe Anderson and Goldberg combined to set up Sho-Silva who failed to connect with the ball in front of goal and Louis Dennis then flicked the loose ball up and volleyed it over from eight yards out.

Anderson who was a constant threat down the left set up Goldberg again who was denied by Watson before he crossed for Higgs whose header was also saved by the young custodian on loan from Hull City.

The Ravens continued to press Ferriby and after Dennis had a low drive well saved they finally made it 2-0 from the resulting corner as the visitors failed to clear their lines and George Porter converted from close range.

Late on Bromley had two strong appeals for penalties turned down when Dennis was fouled and the defender then handled the ball in the area, but the contact pressure eventually paid off.

Sub Jordan Wynter missed a good chance from a header after good work by Porter before he then made up for it with a spectacular curling effort from 25 yards which gave Watson no chance as it dropped in off the underside of the bar to seal the win for Neil Smith’s side.

This was a much needed win for The Ravens who can now relax a little and prepare for their trip to Dover Athletic next week.
