Bromley booked their place in the First Round of the FA Cup with a replay win over Dover Athletic thanks to a stylish second half display at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night.
The game started with both sides looking to attack creating half chances at either end, Mitchell Pinnock and Mitch Brundle fired over for the visitors, while Luke Wanadio missed a good chance for The Ravens latching on to a Jack Holland pass and chipping over the bar from close range.
As the half went on things became more cagey and a little scrappy. Late on Dover had a shout for a penalty waved away when Josh Passley went down in the box and Bromley’s Frankie Raymond saw his free kick deflect wide off the wall, but they were the only moments of note.
The second half saw Dover start well, Pinnock went close again before Bromley rallied and put Chis Kinnear’s side under pressure.
Alan Dunne headed a corner wide and Luke Wandio crossed for Adam Mekki whose header was saved by Mitch Walker. As The Ravens continued to press a series of corners eventually lead to Josh Rees heading home a Wanadio cross at the far post on 69 minutes.
With Dover completely stunned a second goal followed four minutes later when lone striker Holland surged forward past Louis Fazackerley to set up Mekki who took one touch before powering the ball past Walker into the roof of the net for 2-0.
Late on Dover had a shout for a penalty turned down and Connor Essam had a header from a set piece saved by David Gregory, before Bromley put a seal on the win in injury time.
Sub Louis Dennis played a one two with Rees on the edge of the box and then coolly slid the return past Walker into the corner of the net to make it three to the joy of the home support.
Neil Smith’s side worked hard for this deserved win, they defended solidly for the whole game, won the midfield battle and took their chances when on top in the second half, but before Bromley can look forward to their trip to Rochdale in the next round they have three National league games to play starting with Woking at home on Saturday.
