Bromley 3-0 Dagenham & Redbridge
Bromley 3-0 Dagenham & Redbridge

Bromley recorded a much need win over relegation threatened Dagenham & Redbridge at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon, with two goals late on and a solid defensive display.

The Ravens started well pushing forward but it was the Daggers who had the best chances when Alex McQueen crossed for Reece Grant who was denied by Ryan Huddart and Kenny Clark headed over from the corner, then Grant headed another Daggers chance over soon after.

Chris Bush made a welcome return to the Bromley defence after his suspension, he headed a corner wide on The Ravens first attack, but his all round contribution was immense with his long throws and solid defending.

Dagenham should have gone in front when Chike Kandi crossed for Grant but the striker put his chance over the bar from close range. The Ravens picked up from there though, Joe Kizzi had a header well saved by Elliott Justham from a Coulson corner and Coulson then put a volley just wide from the edge of the box.

Michael Cheek headed just wide from another corner before Josh Rees saw another header from a corner clawed away off the line by Justham. Ben Williamson crossed for Rees who had another effort saved before the Ravens finally got their breakthrough on 42minutes.

Coulson sent in a deep cross for Cheek who headed home powerfully from six yards out to make it 1-0 at the half.

The second half saw Dagenham start the brighter, Clark heading a chance just wide, before Bromley settled and had a good spell of their own, Billy Bingham setting up Rees who headed wide.

The Daggers had a spell of corners, which Bromley defended well and on the break Coulson had a goal bound shot cleared for a corner by Clark. Dagenham pressed again but the Ravens kept them at bay and then took the initiative late on.

A Reeco Hackett-Fairchild cross from the left was volleyed home by Coulson at the far post to make it 2-0 on 83 minutes and with Dagenham reeling Bromley made it 3-0 on 89minutes when Coulson crossed for Rees to flick his header past Justham from just inside the box.

This was a vital win for Neil Smith’s Bromley side, which kept them in third place in the National League and just a point behind Yeovil in second ahead of their home game with Dover Athletic on New Years Day.
