Bromley 3-0 Chester
Bromley 3-0 Chester

Three stunning first half goals saw Bromley record their sixth successive win and move up to fourth in the table.

It was only thanks to a superb goalkeeping display from Chris Kettings and some wayward finishing from the Chester forwards.

Chester started the game well with Jordan Chapell and Craig Hobson just off target. Anthony Cook curled an effort from out wide just wide of the post for The Ravens, but the visitors shoot on sight policy continued with Hobson firing over when well placed in the box.

Then on the break Bromley took the lead on 18 minutes when Moses Emmanuel dispossessed a Chester defender and surged into the box before scoring a curling effort past Jon Worsnop from a tight angle.

Ross Hannah missed a great chance to equalise soon after as he headed a corner over the bar from six yards out.

Bromley cashed in on Chester profligacy and made it 2-0 on 29 minutes when Joe Anderson played in Louis Dennis who showed great footwork before beating Worsnop with an emphatic finish.

Chester again had a spell of pressure Tom Shaw and Ian Sharps put chances over, Craig Mahon had a shot saved and Hobson blasted wide, before The Ravens effectively killed the game off in first half injury when Anderson sent a long ball up to Emmanuel who out muscled Sharps and crashed home a half volley to make it 3-0, the in form striker’s twelfth goal of the season.

The second half was almost all Chester’s, but they failed to find away past Kettings or when they did their efforts were just off target.

The young Scottish Under 21 custodian who is on loan from Crystal Palace made a fine stop to palm away a scuffed Ali Fuseini clearance from a corner and followed it up with another save from the rebound.

Hobson shot wide, Hannah went close and Kettings made a good stop from Tom Peers before Bromley finally rallied.

The Ravens played the ball round nicely for a spell, but struggled to play the final ball. Twice Fuseini did play in Emmanuel and on both occasions Worsnop saved well.

Right at the end Kettings produced his best save of a busy afternoon to deny Hannah’s fiercely struck shot from distance.

Mark Goldberg’s men certainly rode their luck in this game, but with a man of the match performance from Kettings and three top draw goals they made it another win to remember for the home fans at Hayes Lane.

Bromley now travel to Dover Athletic on Tuesday for a Kent Senior Cup game, before making the trip to Tranmere Rovers next Saturday in the National League.
