Bromley’s title hopes suffered a major blow as they were ruthlessly despatched with a late show of striking power by a resurgent Sutton side who look set to make a late bit for the championship themselves.
Bromley started the game well with Elliot Buchanan and Jay May going close, but Sutton soon found their feet and Damien Scannell forced two good saves from Joe Welch.
The visitors took advantage of their strong spell by going in front on 20 minutes when Craig Dundass chipped a ball into the path of Jamie Slabber who drove his shot low pas Welch for 0-1.
The game was a real clash of styles with Bromley trying to pass and Sutton looking for percentage balls and the odd late challenge to unsettle the opposition.
Ali Fuseini had a header saved as the game opened up once more, while Slabber shot wide and Welch saved bravely at the feet off Jamie Taylor.
With Bromley sitting too deep Sutton pressed on Kane Haysman and Scannell were both denied by fantastic Welch saves and Scannell had another effort deflected wide.
Out of the blue The Ravens suddenly found themselves level on 41 minutes when Buchanan found Pierre Joseph-Dubois who took his time under pressure to beat Jason Brown with a cool finish to send the sides in level at the break.
The second half saw Bromley start well again and they took the lead on 54 minutes when a partially cleared corner was knocked back into the box by Buchanan for Dubois to turn and finish from ten yards out for 2-1.
The Ravens then had their best spell of the game with Bradley Goldberg forcing two saves from Brown and May heading wide.
Then Mark Goldberg’s side suffered a major blow as Taylor Parmenter had to go off injured and Dubois had to slot in as an emergency right back with 15minutes to go.
Sutton cashed in on the makeshift backline already missing both first choice centre backs and Dean Sinclair levelled on 81 minutes with a fantastic curling effort from distance.
Fuseini and Buchanan both went close before in injury time the visitors tore Bromley apart, Dundass hit a powerful drive from outside the box into the corner of the net for 2-3 and then to rub salt in the wounds Sinclair made it four with a low drive from 20 yards past an exposed Welch.
With the season coming into the final two months and most teams playing twice a week at least it’s the bigger squads and budgets that will make a real difference and in the end a Bromley side missing the inured Rob Swaine and Jack Holland on England C duty just couldn’t hold out against a very impressive side.
