The Ravens and The Magpies shared another 2-2 draw this season, but this time it was Bromley who let a two goal lead slip as they lost a 2-0 half time lead, conceding the equaliser in second half injury time.
Looking to bounce back from Tuesdays disappointing loss at Dagenham, Neil Smith made two changes as Billy Bingham and Luke Coulson came in for Frankie Raymond and the injured Harry Forster, lining up in the usual 4-4-2 formation.
Maidenhead started the game on top, looking to get the ball forward early and press Bromley, but the home side dealt with the pressure and took the lead with their first attack on 11 minutes.
A long ball forward caused a Mix up between keeper Taye Ashby-Hammond and Manny Parry which saw the ball drop to Coulson who coolly slotted his chance home beating a defender on the line.
The game was wide open and play flowed from end to end, but Bromley created the better chances. Coulson crossed for Courtney Duffus who headed wide and then the influential midfielder set up Liam Trotter whose powerful drive was headed over by Alan Massey.
Dan Sparkes had a shot save for The Magpies, but it was The Ravens who doubled their lead on 33 mins when Jack Bridge played in Duffus who crossed for Michael Cheek to sweep the ball home from just inside the box for 2-0. Cheek had a shot saved from close range soon after following good work by Bridge and the winger went close himself when his shot from a tight angle was blocked at the near post by Ashby-Hammond.
Then with Bromley pressing Bingham hit the foot of the post with a low driven effort from 30yards out as Neil Smith’s men finished the half on top.
The second half saw Bromley start well when Chris Bush combined with Coulson who crossed or Duffus, but his shot was saved by Ashby-Hammond.
With The Magpies rattled, things were looking good for Bromley, but then the momentum changed completely when a deep cross from the left by George Wells was headed home by Ryan Upward, with the home defence completely static, to make it 2-1.
Maidenhead almost levelled up soon after when a corner was cleared upfield to Danilo Orsi, but Byron Webster made a superb block to deny him a goal, picking up an injury in the process.
Bromley defended a series of corners from there, with Upward heading over from a Dan Sparkes cross.
The Ravens eventually settled and stared to create more chances, with Joe Kizzi heading wide from a Bridge corner and Duffus chipping over from a tight angle after a great ball from Coulson, who was superb on his return from injury.
Bridge and Duffus both fired over before Maidenhead rallied in the final fifteen minutes. Sparkes sent in a great cross which Nathan Blissett flicked just wide of the far post and he then had his own cross shot saved by Cousins.
Having switched to 5-3-2 for the last ten minutes Bromley could have sealed their win late on when a scramble from a Magpies corner was cleared up field to Cheek, but the Bromley top scorer hit the side netting from ten yards out when he looked set to score and they were made to pay for their missed chances in injury time.
Two Maidenhead subs combined when Josh Colley sent in a low cross from the left and Jerry Wiltshire ghosted in undetected at the far post to score from close range.
Injury time saw Alan Devonshire’s press for a winner with Bromley sitting deep and holding on, which they just managed to do to preserve a point at least.
Although this was a significant improvement on the previous performance, it must be seen as two points dropped by Bromley in the circumstances.
Following this draw The Ravens have slipped to thirteenth in the National League table ahead of Tuesday nights trip to play play off chasing Boreham Wood at Meadow Park.
